Lion – How We Construct Our Grills!

Our grills and products at Lion Premium Grills are constructed from 16 gauge 304 stainless steel. What are the benefits to using this grade of stainless steel and why do we use it in our manufacturing process? Before we delve into that, let’s first go over what stainless steel is and why it’s used in our process.

Simply put, stainless steel is an alloy of chromium, nickel, and iron. The combination of these various metals and elements creates a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. It is called stainless due to the fact that the properties of this metal are rust resistant. Chromium is known for its hardness and is what makes stainless steel highly resistant to corrosion and discoloration. Nickel is a high luster metal that is also known for its high corrosion resistance. Austenite is a nonmagnetic solid solution of carbon in iron that is used in making corrosion-resistant steel. Stainless steel by definition resists corrosion but not all stainless steel is created equal; in fact, the level of corrosion resistance varies and is dependent on various factors in the manufacturing process such as temperature, exposure to oxygen, and the chemical composition of the metal. Slight variations in the chemical composition can create huge variations in the quality of the stainless steel.

Here’s a great close-up of our L75000 grill that showcases the high quality of the 304 grade 16 gauge stainless steel we utilize in all of our grill products and accessories. The griddle, grill knobs, adornments, cooking grates, and everything else in this picture is constructed from this high grade stainless steel. At Lion Premium Grills we cut no corners. We strive to create only the highest quality products on the market today.

The gauge describes the thickness of the stainless steel itself. The lower the gauge, the thicker and heavier the stainless steel is. A heavier gauge can prevent warping, bowing, and denting of the metal. Heavier is not always better though as sometimes this prevents the welding and forming of said stainless steel during manufacturing. The 16 gauge stainless steel we use is perfect as it maintains heaviness and durability, but also allows us to shape the steel during manufacturing for our grills and products. It is perfect for the high quality we demand.

304 is the grade of the stainless steel we use. It is comprised of at least 8% nickel and is used for its ability to provide an extremely high level of corrosion resistance as well as the ability to maintain the capacity of the metal to be welded, shaped and formed during the manufacturing process. This is highly important for design purposes as well as durability and quality.

Other grills may prove to be susceptible to rust, damage and corrosion due to cost cutting corners that other manufacturers may take. The grills will just not last. In contrast, we use only the highest quality of gauge and grade to maintain the highest standards possible for our luxury grills and products. Quality of construction is of the utmost importance at Lion Premium Grills and the methods and quality of stainless steel we use is the basis for these standards and why we use 16 gauge 304 stainless steel!

Lion Premium Grills Featured Recipe: Grilled Swordfish

Thanks for visiting! This is our monthly featured recipe and this month we’re featuring an incredibly delicious grilled swordfish recipe that is also very easy to prepare! Swordfish is really an amazing piece of fish when it comes to grilling because it’s very “meaty” and holds up well when grilling (in contrast to some cuts of fish that are extremely delicate and fall apart easily when grilled). To accompany the grilled swordfish we have a vinaigrette that really adds that additional explosion of flavor. Thanks and we hope you enjoy this tasty recipe.

INGREDIENTS

4-6 servings

Dressing

1½ teaspoons kosher salt

¾ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

3 tablespoons white wine vinegar

⅓ cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon honey

1½ teaspoons finely chopped fresh thyme

2¼ teaspoons Dijon mustard

Swordfish

2 teaspoons kosher salt

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1½ pound swordfish steak

2 tablespoons canola oil

1 teaspoon whole thyme leaves

2 whole limes or lemons, sliced into wedges

DIRECTIONS

First, we’ll start off by preparing the dressing for the grilled fish. Take a medium sized bowl and add your white wine vinegar, dijon mustard, honey, and chopped thyme; whisk this mixture and add in 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper; continue to whisk. Take the olive oil and slowly whisk the oil into the mixture until the consistency of the dressing is creamy and emulsified.

Now it’s time to grill the swordfish. Set one side of your Lion Premium BBQ Grill to high heat and preheat. Set the opposite side burners to medium heat. Prep your swordfish by brushing each side of the fish with 1 tablespoon of canola oil; season with roughly 2 teaspoons of kosher salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Sprinkle the fish with 1 teaspoon of whole thyme leaves. Once the grill is heated, lightly grease the grates with the remainder of the canola oil. Place the fish on the grill — over high heat — and cook it until it develops a nice char on both sides which should take roughly 2 – 4 minutes per side. Once the fish is ready, transfer it to the side of the grill that is set to medium heat and continue to grill the swordfish until it is cooked all the way through; this may take 5 to 8 additional minutes for a 1 1/2 inch thick swordfish steak. Once it’s finished, remove the fish, set it on a large platter, drizzle your dressing as desired on top, and add lemon or lime wedges to garnish.

Lion Premium Grills: A Closer Look At Our Double Drawers

This month we’re going to take an in-depth look at our double drawers. Deep, expertly constructed drawers that will greatly expand your storage space and ease of access. Visual Appeal & High Functionality

The 304 high grade brushed stainless steel that we utilize in constructing our double drawers also functions to highlight our slick, clean visual design. We’ve also designed them to not only have a substantial amount of “heft” — our drawers weighs in at 43 lbs. — but to also have a tasteful design aesthetics. The polished handles add a sheen and shimmer that highlights the rest of this beautiful unit. These drawers allow for easy storage of grilling tools, accessories, or anything else you may see fit to store next to your grill and island. The weather resistance makes these perfect for any type of weather.

Only the Highest Quality

As with all of our products, we manufacture our drawers from 16 gauge dual lined 304 stainless steel. This gauge and grade of stainless steel is the highest quality of commercial grade stainless steel on the market and is incredibly durable as well as being resistant to rust. Our double drawers are thick, heavy duty, and carry real weight; lighter stainless steel is prone to bending and warping, is easily dented, corrodes at a rapid rate, and looks dull in comparison. This is why we use only the best quality steel available for the construction of our drawers. Our drawers are also extremely easy to clean and maintain.
